Our Mission.

The Florence E. Smith Senior Service Program is housed in the Florence E. Smith Community Center, a community-based agency in Corona, Queens, that provides a comprehensive range of services to the elderly to help them remain active members in the community. The Florence E. Smith Senior Service provides the following services to persons 60 years of age or older:

  • Nutritious hot lunch
  • Homebound meals
  • Cultural trips
  • Specialized small groups
  • Informal socialization & friendly listening
  • Transportation
  • Information & Referrals
  • Referrals
  • Advocacy
  • Case management
  • Recreation activities
  • Cultural activities
  • Educational programs

The senior program is dedicated to rendering service to the aging population according to needs. The idea of the center is to enhance the individual self-esteem of its members and foster a greater sense of independence and self-reliance for them.

 

History.

Florence E. Smith Senior Service Inc., is sponsored by Corona Congregational Church, 102-18 34th Avenue, Corona N.Y. 11368.

The Florence E. Smith Senior Service Program is housed in the Florence E. Smith Community Center, a community based agency in Corona, Queens, that provides a comprehensive range of services to the elderly to help them remain active members in the community. Since its inception in 1980, Florence E. Smith Senior Service has sought the active involvement of seniors in all phases of the organization's planning and operations.

The programs are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mondays thru Fridays.
